Yesterday (8th July) was my first day volunteering with the National Trust based at Woolbeeding, near Midhurst. I joined a group of four other employees and volunteers, Ragwort pulling on Harting Down. Ragwort is a highly toxic plant which is poisonous to most types of livestock, and as the area is to be used for grazing later in the year it had to be cleared. Not the most exciting of jobs and very hard work but the sun shone, there were butterflies fluttering by and it was lovely to be outside. Here are a few photos of the beautiful Pyramidal Orchids which kept us company whilst we worked. Thank you to everyone at the NT yard for making me so welcome, see you next week!
All photos publushed in good faith.
