A Steep Climb!

A steep climb up Graffham Down (25th July - sorry for the late posting!) with Graffham Down Trust and Butterfly Conservation, to look at the large variety of butterflies on this carefully managed conservation area. The weather was lovely and as always we were treated to a knowledgeable talk by Neil Hulme (Butterfly Conservation). Many species were seen including Small Skipper, Large Skipper, Essex Skipper, Small Copper, Painted Ladies, Peacock, Red Admiral, Silver Washed Fritillaries, Common Blue, Large White, Brimstone, Meadow Brown, Speckled Wood, Gatekeeper, and Purple Emperors. This latter has evaded my photography this year as it is always high up in the tree canopy, however there is always next year!
